The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is currently recruiting for a variety of positions at its research stations in Antarctica. Available roles include scientists, technicians, engineers, carpenters, chefs, electricians, and plumbers. Salaries start at £29,273 per annum, with all living expenses—such as accommodation, food, travel, specialist clothing, tools, and training—fully covered. Contracts range from six to 18 months, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to critical scientific research in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.

Working in Antarctica presents both unparalleled experiences and significant challenges. The continent's isolation, extreme cold, and prolonged periods of darkness during winter require individuals who are adaptable and resilient. Despite these hardships, many find the experience profoundly rewarding. Ben Norrish, Head of Vehicles at BAS, who has spent 16 seasons in Antarctica, describes the enduring allure of the continent: "There's something special about Antarctica and the people that adventure there that gets under your skin." For those seeking a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and the chance to make meaningful contributions to scientific understanding, these positions offer an extraordinary opportunity.
